Vein & Laser Institute CoolSculpting Case Study: Sue – Part 2

Missed Part 1 of Sue’s Journey? Check it out here!

Despite her very active lifestyle and a healthy diet, Valparaiso resident Sue Woodward had grown frustrated with a certain stubborn “problem area.” She did her research and the now 55-year-old decided it was time to strongly consider CoolSculpting for the areas above her buttocks at the crest of her hips she refers to as her “flanks.”

At her consultation appointment with CoolSculpting Technician Jordan Fazekas, Sue immediately felt at ease.

“I felt comfortable at Vein and Laser Institute. It’s a very nice place,” said Sue. “Jordan is so sweet. I was very comfortable with her. She explained everything so well.”

coolsculpting-consultation At the consultation, Sue learned the basics of CoolSculpting, a fat-freezing procedure that reduces stubborn bulges without surgery or downtime. Unlike other procedures such as Liposuction or SmartLipo, CoolScultping doesn’t require anesthesia, the procedure is painless, and a treatment typically takes 35 minutes.

What to Expect from a CoolSculpting Consultation

“A consultation usually lasts 20 to 30 minutes and has two main goals,” said Jordan. “The first is for the patient to thoroughly understand the ins and outs of the treatment such as side effects, how the treatment works, and what to expect during the treatment. The second is to see if the patient is a good candidate for CoolSculpting and answer questions including, ‘Will it contour the body correctly,’? ‘Is it safe for the patient,’? and ‘Is there an average or range of how many treatments are usually done?’”

“I heard her version of what CoolSculpting was compared to what I’d heard,” said Sue, explaining that she’d visited an Indianapolis plastic surgeon to find out more about the popular fat-freezing procedure.

“I got personal service and better treatment with Jordan than I did in Indy,” Sue continued. “Vein and Laser Institute is here in Valpo and it’s cheaper.”

As explained on the Vein and Laser Institute’s CoolSculpting page, Sue learned that CoolSculpting is scientifically known as cryolipolysis and uses controlled cooling to target and kill only fat cells. Then, in the weeks that follow her treatments, her body would naturally process the fat and naturally flush out the dead cells.

“Jordan and I talked about my problem area and how many treatments it would take,” said Sue. “We went over pricing, what to bring, what to expect, and the recovery.”

In addition to Sue’s “flanks” or “love handles,” other popular CoolSculpting spots are the abdomen (belly fat), inner and outer thighs, upper arms, below the buttocks, and the submental region (double chin and neck fat).

What Makes a Good CoolSculpting Candidate?

Jordan also discussed with Sue why she was a good candidate for CoolSculpting as she was not clinically overweight, but rather looking for a solution for the unwanted fat that wasn’t responding to her exercise efforts.

“Sue was a great candidate for the procedure,” said Jordan. “She is very active and healthy, and did not have a significant amount of weight to lose – yet she had stubborn areas that were resistant to diet and exercise. She said even when she lost of few pounds, she wasn’t losing the inches from areas she wanted it gone from.”
