What if you could look younger, taking years off your face without the risks and downtime of surgery with a simple in-office procedure – no cutting required?
We are pleased to be among the first physicians in Northwest Indiana to offer Silhouette InstaLift™, a revolutionary procedure for the patient who is seeking a lift without invasive surgery. Suitable for both men and women who want to achieve a younger looking appearance, Silhouette InstaLift™ is ideal for correcting signs of aging in the nasolabial folds, regaining volume in the cheeks, correcting the jowls, and redefining the jawline.
This in-office procedure re-contours your mid-face and cheeks by gently lifting the deeper subdermal layers of your skin with absorbable sutures. The treatment is comfortable, requires only local anesthesia and typically takes 45 minutes. You can go back to most of your regular activities in three to five days. While an immediate result is noticeable, you can expect further improvement over the next several months.

Is Silhouette InstaLift approved by the FDA?
Yes. The product earned FDA-clearance in 2015 for lifting of the mid-face.
Who is a good candidate for Silhouette InstaLift?
It is ideally performed on men and women ages 40-70 in good health with normal skin thickness and minimal to moderate facial sagging in the mid to lower face. Ideal candidates are interested in a more youthful look without major surgery, injections or laser treatments.
Is it safe?
Absolutely. Our providers undergo specialized training to administer the treatment safely. The procedure has been successfully used outside the US since 2013.
Does Silhouette InstaLift require general anesthesia or hospitalization?
No. It is performed with topical and local anesthesia.
How long does the procedure take?
The Silhouette InstaLift procedure is typically completed in under an hour.
Is it painful?
Mild discomfort is common during and/or immediately after the procedure. Most patients report no pain associated with the procedure itself.
Are any incisions made in the skin?
No. Only a single needle entry point is required for each thin filament.
How long is the recovery time?
Patients can leave the office immediately following the procedure. There is mild swelling afterwards, with the possibility of bruising. Many patients return to work within 1 hour of having the procedure or on the following day.
What are Silhouette InstaLift sutures made of?
The sutures are made from glycolide/L-lactide (PLGA), a polymer that has been used for years and is well tolerated by the body. These fully resorbable sutures have bi-directional cones and knots placed strategically along the threads, which are also resorbable. The cones and knots provide both lift and anchoring to the subcutaneous tissue, holding the threads in place and stimulating the body’s production of collagen to replace depleted facial volume. Over time, the sutures will dissolve and be naturally processed by the body.
How long do the results last?
Results typically last one to two years. You can extend the longevity of your treatment by following a personalized maintenance program tailored to your specific needs. At the Vein & Laser Institute we recommend an annual facial evaluation to monitor and manage aging progression.
What can Silhouette InstaLift do to improve my appearance?
Sagging facial skin is one of the major contributors to a prematurely aged and tired-looking appearance. Silhouette InstaLift lifts the deeper layers of your skin and repositions it where it once was.
What areas of the face does Silhouette InstaLift treat?
The procedure lifts skin, helps increase volume and restores contours to the mid-face, cheeks and jawline.
How is the Silhouette InstaLift procedure performed?
A consultation, (which consists of manipulating the skin to see which direction provides the best cosmetic result), determines where the threads will be placed and the skin is marked. Local anesthesia is administered to the treatment sites and the doctor gently inserts a needle to the required depth and guides it to the exit point. This is repeated until all threads are placed. The skin is then advanced over the threads and the lift is achieved. The treated area is cleaned and recovery balm is placed over the injected sites. Minimal swelling & bruising can be experienced up to 7 days post procedure.
Is Silhouette InstaLift the same as Thread Lifts?
No. Silhouette InstaLift™ is a new, advanced technique. Previous thread procedures (removed from the market in 2009) involved permanent threads with hooks and barbs, which were traumatic to the skin. Silhouette InstaLift doesn’t use hooks or barbs, but repositions the underlying layers of the skin utilizing a patented bi-directional knot and cone design. Unlike the old permanent threads which were placed in the skin and remained forever, the InstaLift threads are fully reabsorbable. InstaLift uses biodegradable sutures with soft cones which dissolve over time while ensuring the lift power your skin needs.
Will my face look natural?
Yes! What makes Silhouete Instalift™ so effective is the presence of tiny cones spaced along the entire length of the thread. When the thread is pulled, the soft cones latch on to the tissue, pulling the entire area upwards. Because no single point sustains the brunt of pulling, the lift is very uniform, looking smooth and natural.
